Online Therapy for Trauma, OCD, and Anxiety

in Colorado

At Safe Haven Therapy, I help adults heal from complex trauma and anxiety,

through online therapy anywhere in Colorado.

Many of the people I work with look like they have it all together. Inside, they are constantly bracing for the next thing to go wrong. They may scan their bodies for signs of illness, wonder whether they are in the right relationship, or carry a heavy sense of responsibility for everyone around them. Some are healing from an emotionally harmful relationship, a past addiction, or trauma they are finally ready to face.

If that sounds familiar, you are not broken, and you are not too much. Your nervous system learned to protect you. Therapy can help it learn that you are safe now, so you can make room for relief, connection, and joy.

Specialties

Complex Trauma & PTSD Therapy

Complex trauma (C-PTSD) develops from ongoing or repeated harm, often in childhood or close relationships, rather than a single event. It can show up as hypervigilance, shame, emotional overwhelm, numbness, or feeling disconnected from yourself. I use Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), IFS-informed parts work, and somatic tools to help you understand your trauma responses and build safety in your body at a pace that feels manageable.

OCD Therapy & ERP

OCD is more than being neat or organized. It often looks like intrusive thoughts, relentless doubt, and mental checking, reassurance-seeking, or reviewing that never quite brings relief. I treat OCD with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment, combined with ACT, mindfulness, and self-compassion. I work with many OCD themes, including relationship OCD, harm and moral obsessions, and "just right" feelings.

Health Anxiety Therapy

Health anxiety (illness anxiety) is persistent fear that something is wrong with your body, even after reassurance from doctors. It can mean body-scanning, symptom googling, frequent appointments, or avoiding them altogether. Using ERP and ACT, I help clients loosen the grip of health fears, tolerate uncertainty, and trust their bodies again.

Anxiety Therapy

Anxiety can look like constant worry, overthinking, trouble sleeping, irritability, or a sense that you can never fully relax. I help adults with generalized anxiety understand what their nervous system is doing and learn practical tools to calm it, so worry stops running the show.

Narcissistic Abuse Recovery

Recovering from an emotionally abusive or narcissistic relationship often means untangling self-doubt, trauma bonds, and a voice that was slowly silenced. I help clients make sense of what happened, rebuild trust in their own perceptions, and set boundaries that protect their peace in future relationships.

Codependency & People-Pleasing

If you feel responsible for everyone's feelings, struggle to say no, or lose yourself in relationships, you are not alone. People-pleasing is often a survival strategy learned early. Together we explore where it comes from and practice honoring your own needs without guilt.

Addiction Recovery Counseling

Recovery doesn't end when substance use stops. I support adults in recovery who are rebuilding their lives, addressing the trauma and anxiety underneath past use, and strengthening relapse prevention. My background includes work as a substance abuse counselor and ongoing reentry mentoring.

Therapy for Women

Many women I work with are high-achieving, deeply caring, and exhausted. I support women navigating burnout, relationship trauma, identity shifts, and the pressure to hold everything together for everyone else.

Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy

I provide neurodiversity-affirming therapy for adults with ADHD, autism, and other neurodivergent profiles, including those diagnosed later in life. Rather than asking you to fit a neurotypical mold, therapy adapts to how your brain actually works.

My Approach

I'm Chelsea Augusto, MA, LPCC, a trauma-informed therapist based in Broomfield, offering online therapy throughout Colorado. My work draws on ERP, Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), IFS-informed parts work, ACT, DBT skills, and somatic tools. I focus on helping you understand your nervous system rather than simply managing symptoms, with care rooted in dignity, personal responsibility, and belonging.

Alongside individual therapy, I lead therapy groups for underserved populations, including neurodivergent adults, therapists navigating their own mental health, people rebuilding after addiction recovery, and adults moving through major life transitions.
